Lately ...

... The Propaganda Machine has been getting quite a bit of commentage and a few new (at least for one time) readers. That's a good feeling. I don't really know why I started this, though I think it was because I started reading Catholic And Enjoying It which is still my favorite blog. It has turned from me sharing my opinion on mostly music, politics and religion to ... well ... a lot of the same stuff with a more personal touch. Now I kind of view this as my written work.
I would love to write a book, but with the lack of time, skill, and/or ideas I doubt that will happen for a long time. TPM, however, has allowed me to write for an audience about things that I usually know about, and write a little better as well. I am enjoying it more than ever. I hope anyone that reads it enjoys it at least a little bit.
I think that I enjoy my opinion being taken seriously. As long as I don't take myself too seriously and continue to see this as my small contribution to "online literature" I will keep doing it. So please keep reading (when you have time) and definitely make some comments.

One warning though ...

There's this concept that I learned about in college called the "narcotizing dysfunction." It has to do with the media and it says that we often replace action with becoming knowledgable about something. Example: I read about a horrible atrocity somewhere in the world. I blog about it and then feel like I've done something. Though it's good to make people aware of things that are important, action is required. Kind of like "faith without works is dead." Something that is particular to the world of blogging is what I call "talking about what we're talking about." Someone posts about an actual event. Then a million others post about that post, comment on that blogger's ideas, and then continue to comment on those posts about the first post. We end up discussing our discussion and that is largely pointless.

So remember, take action! God put you here for a reason.

And in closing this is the worst comment spam I have ever seen (I also like silverstride's abuse of it):
