... a bunch of us went to see Sonicflood in a high school gym like an hour away from our college. I wasn't really to excited to see Sonicflood and hadn't ever heard of any of the opening acts, but then Downhere took the stage. Wow. They were and still are one of my favorite bands to see in concert. I devoured their first CD. When their next one came out I was slightly disappointed ... until I saw them play a lot of it at Alive 2004. Wow again.
Anyway, they're fantastic and you should get their CD's. The whole point of this is to link to two blogs by members of the band as well as the band's own blog:
Downhere Blog
Normal Rockstar (by the amazing drummer, Jeremy Thiessen)
Lav's Blog (by the bass player, Glenn Lavender)
So, check 'em out. I've talked to the band members both times I've seen them live and they seem to be really cool, seriously Christian people.
Here are some of my favorite lyrics from Downhere. They may not be their most meaningful, but are very memorable and catchy:
Greetings, this is our most serious song ...
Rock stars need money
We can't live on bologna
Rock stars need money
And it comes from you
Rock stars need money
We can't live on bologna sandwiches
We could try
But we'd really rather not, you know
Rock stars need money
We can't live on bologna sandwiches
Rock stars need money
And it comes from you, and you, and you, and you, and you
Rock stars need money
We can't live on bologna sandwiches
We could try
But we'd really rather not, you know
And here's how you can help
Oooh, buy our album
Oooh, or a t-shirt
A sticker, a poster, whatever
Just help us get through the week
Cause rock stars need money
We can't live on bologna sandwiches
Rock stars need money
And it comes from you, and you, and you, and you, and you
And everyone in your family!
- Secret Track on the self-titled album
