I totally agree:

"cool" is the slang word. It transcends all generations and subcultures.

However, it's interesting to think about how often we use words like "cool" and "like" without even thinking about it. When you're writing it's easier to speak in "proper English" but speaking out loud is a different story. We pepper our conversation with words that only serve to ... well, I'm not sure what they do. For example, I find myself using "like" to almost stall while I'm thinking. It's a slightly more formal way of saying "um."

Tru dat! I was actually just thinking about that the other day. I use the word cool a lot to describe everything. I also use awesome and sweet..hmm, I sound like a surfer I guess. Whatever.
