My science projects were never this significant.

High school senior discovers ironing deactivates anthrax

In fact, I was never really a fan of the science fair. Some people really got into it but I just sort of did it and got it over with. I usually did pretty well and went to the regional "competition" a couple times ... but it just wasn't my thing.

I always thought that people who did projects like this (and inevitably won all the prizes) got more than a little help from their parents ... especially when your father happens to be "a medical toxicologist who works for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention."

However, good for him that he did something worthwhile. It's better than doing something you don't care about just because it's required.
