One of my favorite liturgies ...

... here at the seminary is the Eucharistic Adoration combined with night prayer (or evening prayer on Sundays). How fitting is it that we say this gospel canticle with the Eucharist exposed on the altar:
Lord, now you let your servant go in peace;
your word has been fulfilled;
my own eyes have seen the salvation
which you have prepared in the sight of every people:
a light to reveal you to the nations
and the glory of your people Israel.
(Luke 2:29-32)
It's amazing, that in the mass, our salvation is there. What all of the patriarchs, prophets, and kings have waited for throughout the Old Testament is right in front of us; and not only do we see Him, bet we receive Him. Wow.

It's so easy to take the mass for granted even though there is a miracle happening on the altar every time mass is celebrated.
What a gift!
