Deep thoughts ...

... from Sara's blog:

When I'm a little older, wiser and have more money, I'm going to travel this country and see everything. And I do mean everything. From sea to shining sea, mountains, lakes and streams, maybe even travel the route my father did when he first came to this "land of opportunity."

People talk about travelling the world and helping people in India and Africa, and I say kudos to that. But me, I want to see what's in my own backyard. I want to help the people I live around and see everyday. I want to meet the people that make up this country: from the shallow and self-obsessed, to the generous and the dreamers like me. There's so much to see, and I can't wait to see it.

I used to think that if I knew someone was evil or had personality quirks that most people couldn't stand then I wouldn't want them spoiling my fun or ruining my day, but I've come to realize that every person I meet makes me take a deeper look at myself, at the world and everything in it, and if I can learn something from meeting them then it was worth it. There are some experiences I wouldn't want my entire life, but I think I could handle meeting someone terrible. People are what you make of them. I wonder what people make of me.
