Benedict XVI a music lover?

Aren't we all ...

Benedict calls for harmony in the church during visit to Germany

Pope Benedict XVI called today for harmony in the diverse and sometimes fractious Roman Catholic Church, comparing it to a church organ in need of tuning.
Benedict made his appeal as he blessed the new organ at the Alte Kapelle, or Old Chapel, in the German town of Regensburg, where he also was expected to visit his parents’ graves.
The pontiff, on a six-day homecoming tour of his native Bavaria, compared disputes in the church to out-of-tune organ pipes, saying, “dissonance ensues and the result is unbearable.”
“Just as in an organ an expert hand must constantly bring disharmony back to consonance, so we in the Church ... always need to find anew, through our communion in faith, harmony in the praise of God and in fraternal love,” said Benedict, a skilled pianist who loves Mozart.

[Thanks, Dad]
