Casino Royale was quite good. If you've seen any other Bond movies, you'll know that they've focused mainly on action, gadgets and sex. This new one, however, was all about the character of James Bond and explaining why he acts the way he does in all of the other films (Casino Royale is a sort of prequel: it takes place right after Bond becomes a OO agent, but is set in the present).
I was mainly impressed by the character development, but the action was great too. The movie didn't rely too heavily on computer generated effects; instead we got to see real action with some awesome stunts. My two favorites were the chase in the beginning (this is the guy 007 is chasing ... he's really doing all that stuff. Learn more here.) and the car crash later on in the movie.
So: good characters (at least Bond and Vesper), cool action, and it wasn't all about "Bond girls."
Fantastic.
