We prayed at the abortion clinic this morning. If you don't live in the western Pa/eastern OH area, it is really cold. Like -5 with the wind chill.
I'm telling you this because of something that's been on my mind lately. It came up today because, while we were praying, a woman drove by yelling at us to "worry about President Bush." Then she came back around the block and stopped in the street, yelling at us some more. Her basic message was that we should do something concrete for the people of that neighborhood instead of praying on saturday mornings. That way, she said, people wouldn't need abortions: "We don't have any choices."
What she said made me wonder if the pro-life battle is even possible to win on earth. If people get angry at us for merely showing up to pray, then how can we convince them that abortion is wrong.
The only thing that will really stop abortion is a change of heart in this country. People must accept that abortion is murder and must end. No legislation can do this. If abortion were ever outlawed, people would fight for it just as hard as we fight against it now. Hearts must change if the laws are to have any effect.
Even if we can never stop abortion, we can never stop publicly fighting. The victims of abortion deserve a witness. Someone must be there to at least show by their presence that not all of us see abortion as an accetable practice.
We must never let the world forget those who didn't get the chance to speak for themselves.

You're right that it's important to oppose abortion, and oppose abortion in public no matter what. What you're wrong about, I think, is that the lady yelling at you. I don't think it's a bad sign, I think it's a good sign.
It will be bad if the world starts treating us like the Prohibition Party. If we're ignored we'll know we're in trouble. But even if that happens, we should still speak out against abortion and in public.
Baby killing is very important to a lot of people. They're not nice people and they like yelling at people they're mad at. (They're mad a lot.) If they're yelling at you they percieve you to be threat to baby killing. By the way, she doesn't need to be convinced abortion is wrong. She knows abortion is wrong, maybe better than we do.
Her hostility is a compliment to you. It's like getting a medal in the army.
Thanks for the comment Ace!
I agree that it is good that people notice, even if they get mad. What bothers me is the way people push abortion aside and replace it with an issue that, while important, pales in comparison with abortion. Everything does.
So, yeah, it is kind a medal of honor. Jesus told us to expect this sort of thing:
"In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world." - John 16:33
Thanks!
I guess when it comes to being insulted we just have to be honest and charitable. The truth is the only thing that's going to win in the end.
