Reading a great book for class.

'In the Beginning...': A Catholic Understanding of the Story of Creation and the Fall
by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI

In what is most vast, in the world of heavenly bodies, we see revealed a powerful Reason that holds the universe together. And we are penetrating ever deeper into what is smallest and into the primordial units of life; here, too. we discover a Reason that astounds us, such that we must say with Saint Bonaventure: "Whoever does not see here is blind. Whoever does not hear here is deaf. And whoever does not begin to adore here and to praise the creating Intelligence is dumb."

Sounds interesting.

How much John Paul II, and Benedict XVI do you read in seminary?

We read them both fairly often, but probably a little more of Benedict (in his Ratzinger days).

Right now, I'm reading that book on creation by Benedict (awesome) and the revised Theology of the Body by JP2 (also awesome).

Like one of my professors said yesterday, we are so blessed to have two brilliant, holy men as popes.

Cool coincidences, Mike: I was just saying we are blessed in that way to Fr Stephen tonight.

I want to read the Theology of the Body at some point soon. Even for people in chaste modes of life, Weigel's making out it's about much more than that: JP II's declaration of the personalism of Catholicism.

That's what it's seemed like to me so far, but I'm only a few pages in. I'll have to post on it when I get further.
