Tour guide.

Yesterday evening several boy scouts from a local troop visited St. Vincent. They were working on a medal for Catholic scouts which involved learning about all the sacraments (they came to St. Vincent to learn about Holy Orders).

I was asked to show them around, so DanL, MikeK and myself met them before mass and showed them how the monks do vespers. After mass, they ate dinner with all of the seminarians. Following dinner we gave them a tour which they seemed to enjoy. 7th graders tend to be energetic about everything anyway.

We finished the tour by showing them Fishers of Men, a fantastic vocations video.

Hopefully the experience had a good effect on the kids. I think it's really important to show Catholics that guys are still called to the priesthood and many of them still answer the call. It is also helpful for them to see that we are just normal people like them. We can talk about music and sports, and even play video games sometimes.
