charge!

My retreat was a good one. The "canonical portion" (the first couple days added on for those of us preparing for ordination within 6 months) was undirected but very peaceful and spiritual. The rest of the seminary showed up on Wednesday and we had our annual retreat. It was led by Fr. Daniel Trapp from Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit. He gave some very interesting and beneficial talks on various mystics and how we can apply their teachings to our lives.

I enjoyed my time at St. Emma's this year. I made an effort to take it very seriously and I think I was mostly successful. I feel rested and excited for this semester.

One highlight for me was reading through the rite for the ordination of deacons one night. It was exciting as well as intense. My diaconate ordination is, God-willing, three months from today and I think that the time in between will be over before I know it.

As for now, tomorrow I have Deacon Prep., Eucharist, and The Gospel of John. My other classes are Homiletics II, Pastoral Counseling I and a seminar on the doctors of the Church.

April 10th, the Saturday after Easter! God-willing, of course.

Gosh! I wish I could be there. Save a 'first Blessing' for me. And a prayer card too! ;-D

This is my deacon ordination, so the first blessing and card will have to wait until next year, but I'll be sure to send you a holy card when that happens. I'm not sure if blessings can be mailed.
