The week that we came back seems like a long time ago. We had a day of recollection that I enjoyed and my car's coolant light came on. That was a pretty good summary. The car was taken care of.
Last week was a busy one. I had a big test, I petitioned for the Diaconate [That means I wrote (with my hand) a letter to my bishop asking to be ordained. I also took the Oath of Fidelity)] and attended the Monastery's St. Patrick's Day party.
On Friday, there was a Festival of Praise in the seminary chapel (their usual space is under construction). The next morning, several of us traveled to Pittsburgh to pray outside an abortion clinic. When we came back I played frisbee with some guys and then got ready for the annual indoor bocce tournament.
No, my team didn't win, but we gave a valiant effort, had fun and wore Transformers t-shirts.
So, going into this new week, I can't believe that Lent has gone so fast. Only one more week and then Holy Week. And then, the weekend after Easter, my diaconate ordination. Unbelievable.
I'm kind of freaking out about the amount of work I need to do before the end of the semester, but being a deacon is pretty hard to ignore. It gives me hope. Then I just need to make sure that, in the post-ordination excitement, I don't forget about classes.
Pray for me! I'm praying for all of you.
