On Monday, the priests of our diocese gathered at a hotel/conference center for our annual Clergy Convocation. This is a big 3-day meeting where we have speakers on different topics and spend some time praying and socializing.
This was only my second time attending. Last year I came for one day because we were looking at the new Roman Missal. This years topics: evangelization and chanting the new Missal.
The highlight for me was practicing a lot of the priest's parts in the new translation. It is really going to be a challenge. I feel fortunate in that I am still new at this and, though I'm comfortable with the way I learned to chant the prayers in seminary, it won't be as difficult for me to learn something new. It will be tough for priests who have been doing the same thing for years and years.
Besides the presentations we all heard, I got to spend time with the other priests of the diocese, which is always a good time. A couple of us also made a visit to the Josephinum to see some of our seminarians and tour the place.
All in all, a good time.
