What's going on?
After covering for a priest on vacation this weekend, I made an overnight visit to my seminary alma mater to visit my brother and some friends. Since the Super Bowl was on, it was a great chance to hang out (and eat). On Monday I got to do some praying, visited with my old spiritual director and celebrated Mass for the seminarians - I was a little intimidated but it went well.
Listening to:
I've been trying to get through two albums in their entirety: David Crowder Band's requiem Mass, Give Us Rest, and Foo Fighters' Wasting Light. I just can't seem to get all the way through, since I do the vast majority of my listening while driving.
One drawback of having a phone with a big chunk of my music collection on it is that it's so easy to put it on shuffle. I think it's made my patience for hearing an entire album noticeably shorter.
Reading:
I'm about three fourths of the way through Chesterton's biography of St. Thomas Aquinas. I must admit: I was supposed to read this book (along with the one on St. Francis) in school, but it was a busy semester and I never finished it. Now I'm really appreciating GKC's wonderful style and how much he has made St. Thomas come alive for me. I don't think I've ever appreciated this massively important saint as much as I do now, thanks to Chesterton.
Thought for the moment:
I desperately want to become better at waking up. I am, and have been for as long as I can remember, been a night person. I feel more awake at night, I have done most of my schoolwork at night and have a really difficult time waking up before I absolutely have to get out of bed.
I honestly enjoy the morning, when I've been able to experience it. I love being able to take it slow drink some tea and pray a little - rather than a rushed shower and usually no breakfast. Being awake and not angry at the world tends to lead into a better sort of day for me.
So, any tips?

I'm with you 100% on being a night person, and having a hard time waking up in the morning. I've been toying with the idea of getting one of those sunrise clocks. A brother seminarian swears by his. They're pricey, but if it helps it might be worth it. There's many models, but here's one:

Hi Tim,
I was looking at those too. I ended up getting a couple of cheap outlet timers from Walmart and set them for when I wanted to wake up. I tried them for the first time this morning.
I still needed the alarm to wake me up, but when I got up and the lights were on, it definitely helped me stay up, rather than resetting the alarm.
Also, going to sleep a little earlier didn't hurt.
I saw this article a little while ago...I'm not sure if you sent it to me or not, but it seems like a good process: http://www.stevepavlina.com/blog/2006/04/how-to-get-up-right-away-when-your-alarm-goes-off/
I'm hoping that's the right link lol.
