1. I already knew that I loved Daft Punk's soundtrack for TRON: Legacy - It's got a great mix of orchestral music and electronica that fit that movie perfectly. I just recently discovered a remix album of the soundtrack called TRON: Legacy Reconfigured and it's just as good, in a different way. Instead of the short, intense pieces that make up the soundtrack, a group of artists have expanded and transformed the songs into some very cool techno pieces. My favorite right now: "The Grid" as remixed by The Crystal Method.
2. One of the weirdest bands I listen to (and also one of the best, in my opinion) is coming out with a new album soon. Yes! Ten Stories, the new album from mewithoutYou comes out on May 15th. Here's a little preview:
3. On the Wednesday after Easter, I was able to see Kevin Heider in concert at Franciscan University. I've known Kevin for a few years now (ever since working together on Teeth: A Monstrous Musical Comedy) but I'd never seen him perform his own music. It was quite enjoyable. I knew Kevin was very talented, but I had never heard his opening act, Alanna Boudreau, and I was blown away. They sang together a little bit (like on this song by Kevin) but her originals were quite good as well. Enjoy:
