A Christmas Song For Every Day #19

The last one:
Here's Sing It, Ohio's newest song, "Christmas On The Stairs." I wrote it with my sister about various Christmas memories and the meaning behind it all. We recorded it two days ago with: three acoustic guitars, a cello, a banjo, a bass guitar, two clinking bottles, a keyboard and about three voices at a combination recording and jam session/milkshake party (MILKSHOCK). Twas a good time.

You can download it at our myspace page.
I remember Christmas on the stairs
Waiting so impatiently
For my chance to run down there
Oh, but what would I see?
The snow in the yard
The dog with a ball
My mom and dad's camcorder captured it all
The nail in the tree
The wreath on the door
The feeling I had that there'd always be more

I remember Christmas in the car
Driving to see the lights
It always seemed to be so far
I could have stayed out all night
The lights in the trees match the light in my eyes
The Son of God born in a baby's disguise
Songs in my heart and frost on the glass
Warm back in bed, will this night ever pass?

Every time I close my eyes, I picture myself there
The Shepherds at his feet, the angels in the air
Every Christmas day, what do we hope to see
A present or the savior when we look below the tree?

I remember Christmas with my family
Passing the bread around
You take your happiest moment with you
And see what others have found
Hay on the table, a log on the fire
Handel's Messiah being sung by the choir
A church full of people, a server in white
Candles and quiet on that Christmas night

Every time I close my eyes, I picture myself there
The Shepherds at his feet, the angels in the air
Every Christmas day, what do we hope to see
A present or the savior when we look below the tree?

The prophecy fulfilled, I hear the angels sing
The star is shining down on us, glory to the king
On this winter night, I ask myself again
Will I live just for me or for the Son of Man?

Fall on your knees
Oh hear the angels' voices
Fall on your knees
Oh hear the angels sing
Oh holy night
The night of our salvation
Oh holy night
The night when Christ was born

Gloria, hear the angels' voices
Gloria, hear the angels sing
Gloria, in excelsis Deo
Gloria, glory to the king
