... but I don't believe it: C.S. Lewis opposed screen 'Narnia':
Although Lewis, who died in 1963, said he would have considered a cartoon version, his letter suggests he is unlikely to have approved of Disney's interpretation, particularly its computer-generated Aslan.
"Anthropomorphic animals, when taken out of narrative into actual visibility, always turn into buffoonery or nightmare -- at least with photography," he wrote.
"Cartoons (if only Disney did not combine so much vulgarity with his genius!) would be another matter. A human, pantomime, Aslan would be, to me, blasphemy."
Personally, I consider a computer-generated lion a sort of cartoon lion. It's realistic, but not quite real. And it's not some kind of puppet either. Lewis was a visionary, but even he couldn't forsee what filmakers would be able to do now. In the 60's, no one would believe that someone could create on screen the things we've seen in The Matrix, Spiderman, and especially LOTR.
I have faith! Even if this film is not perfect, I believe it will do what the films did for LOTR: rejuvinate the fans and bring a whole new audience to the story.
