and all the rest

1. Two good posts from the always good Adam's Ale:
Second, something that I've encountered lately: what to do with your eyes during the Mass.
I try to make it a point to either look at the book or “up” when the Father is being addressed. In this way we indicate that we are saying to the Father that Jesus told us to do perform the Mass, that is where we get our authority to do it, we are doing it to be reunited with You and to give You thanks and praise, and in turn ask for your grace though Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit. This is our side of the phone conversation with God – only tacitly directed to us.
2. A book I want to read: The Church Mysteries of Sherlock Holmes. I thoroughly enjoyed the original Sherlock Holmes stories and combining it with some Catholic intrigue can only make it more interesting.

3. Underoath's newest video is a good one. Apparently there has been some controversy over some of the imagery. Here, the video's director does some interesting explaining.

4. California's Disappearing State Parks, with a great quote from Jack London:
“I would rather my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot,” said London, who looked like a young Warren Beatty. “The function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them. I shall use my time!”
