snapshot: nine seven

What's going on?
The week has gone quickly. It's hard to believe that it's Wednesday already. I had a nice visit at home Sunday and Monday - saw some friends, hung out with my parents, concelebrated at Franciscan, played with my dog. I had a funeral at a funeral home yesterday. Today I'm at the high school.

Any meaningful moments?
The funeral yesterday was for a woman I had actually met and visited several times before she died. It was powerful to see how much she appreciated me coming to her hospital room and how much she wanted to receive communion, though she couldn't. I was happy that I was able to be with her in this last part of her journey on Earth.

In my free time ...
Thanks to the recommendations of seminarian Tom and college friend Joe, I've gotten into a couple BBC shows: Doctor Who and Top Gear. The Doctor appeals to me because of its humor, its crazy sci-fi story lines. Top Gear is a bit of a surprise, because I'm not a "car person." I just love how the hosts test the cars for the pure enjoyment of it. Also, the challenges they undertake (for example, a trip from Switzerland to the UK on one tank of gas) are very entertaining. I would LOVE to be able to do a lap on their test course.

Thought for the moment
We're experiencing some cooler and wetter weather. It makes me look forward to Fall. I am definitely a big fan of warm Summer weather, but all of the seasons have their own charm. Fall feels quieter, slower and yet crisper ... if that makes sense.
And every since my time in college, I have loved walking in the rain. Not getting soaked, but just enjoying the cool air and the smells that rain brings up.

I think Fall is my favorite season. Something about it is just exciting, maybe because it lets you know that change is coming.
