new words

We are not quite a week into our use of the new Roman Missal.
I have to say that I've enjoyed it so far. I find the new prayers powerful and direct. The actual experience of celebrating the Mass with this translation has been interesting. Even though I've only been a priest since May, I've found myself getting used to the "old" translation - it's what I've heard my whole life and what I learned to pray in the seminary.
Now, I really do have to pay attention. Besides the book itself (which ever one you use) being different, the structures of the prayers and the order of words require real thought - and I like it.
I'm a big reader, I read every night before I go to sleep; but a problem that I have - especially when reading a book I really like - is that I read too fast. I skip words and jump lines.
Though I never did that with the Sacramentary, the newness of the Missal truly helps me focus on what the prayers are saying.
I find that the most challenging thing about being the celebrant - praying words directed to God, all while I'm saying them out loud, usually with a microphone on, in a "public speaking voice." It seems to me, so far, that the new translation makes it a little more clear Who I am speaking to.
